“An angel on a world tour” - A revue for Marlene Dietrich
Saturday,
July 19, 2024
8:30 pm
Kathrin Strocka, Laura Bettinger, Ulrike Gronow, Thomas Voigt
Three actresses go on a journey with the diva, tell her stories, ask questions and let contemporary witnesses speak. Above all, however, they approach the songs with which Marlene Dietrich shone on the world’s stages without being blessed with a great voice.
For many, she is still the greatest German film actress of the 20th century – a myth, style icon and sex symbol all in one. Who was she really, what demons did she battle with, what explains her unique charisma?
The actors are: Katrin Strocka, Laura Bettinger, Ulrike Gronow & Thomas Voigt (ensemble from the Theater Rudolstadt in Thuringia, premiere was in February 2025)
“Now or never” - the Comedian Harmonists, part 2
Saturday,
August 2, 2025
8:30 pm
The singers of the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar will perform and sing for you
Jasper Sung, Marko Kürsten, Tobias Glagau, Markus Seidensticker, Oliver Luhn
Musical director: Dirk Sobe
The singers of the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar present the second part of the Comedian Harmonists’ story, which deals with the “after” of the legendary boy band. In 1975, the old Harry Frommermann is working on the recording of his “Vocal Orchestra”. He reflects on the first boyband of all time. Musically, the evening remains the centerpiece, with unforgotten hits such as “Wochenende und Sonnenschein” and “Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus” in perfect a cappella singing. The performers bring back the charm and humor of the golden 20s without copying the original, but with a modern, varied sound. With a mixture of comedy, harmony and soul, the performance revives the magic of the “real” Comedian Harmonists.
