Admire the world-famous Teatro La Fenice opera house. Riccardo Muti, together with the choir and orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice, was responsible for the prestigious launch of the concert series which marks the re-opening of the opera house, following its complete destruction in a fire in 1996. Your gondola ride will also take you to the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, a Gothic palace. The building incorporates numerous arcades and small columns and is deemed to be one of Venice’s most beautiful architectural treasures. The famous Rialto Bridge is a must during your visit. This is the most famous bridge over the Canale Grande and probably the most famous bridge in the world! It has featured in numerous films and Hollywood blockbusters.
Trip to the Venice Biennale
The Biennale di Venezia is an international art exhibition which has been taking place in Venice every two years since 1895. 28 countries present their works of art in various pavilions. Bruno Gironcoli, who was the subject of the autumn exhibition held in the Ronacher art room, has represented Austria at the Biennale. Another component of this art exhibition is the famous Venice film festival, which attracts numerous famous actors from all over the world.
Sightseeing tour in Venice
Probably the most colourful and unique event held in this lagoon city is the famous carnival. The official opening always takes place ten days before Ash Wednesday and starts with the Flight of the Angel. As part of this tradition, a celebrity is lowered down from the Campanile on to Piazza San Marco. The carnival itself features artistic presentations on stages in the city. Experience this magnificent atmosphere and the countless hand-made masks!
