Sightseeing in SALZBURG

Your day trip from thermal spa Ronacher: travel time approx. 2 hours

Salzburg’s historic centre was classed a UNESCO
World Heritage Site several years ago. The city has become world famous due to the Salzburg Festival and for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Whether known as a festival city or the city of Mozart, Salzburg offers visitors plenty of sights combined with its hospitality and culinary treats. Why not try a famous ‘Salzburger Nockerl’, a delicious hot dessert dusted with icing sugar. The ‘Nocken’ represent the Salzburg mountains while the icing sugar coating is reminiscent of the breath-taking snow-covered peaks in the state of Salzburg.

Sights to be visited during a trip to Salzburg

Stroll along the Getreidegasse – probably the most famous shopping street in Salzburg’s historic centre – and visit the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Admire the original rooms where Austria’s most famous son once lived. Documents, historical instruments and other mementos attest to the life, work and talent of this world-famous composer.

The Hohensalzburg Fortress captivates visitors with its mediaeval rooms and romantic castle courtyard. In summer, the fortress hosts the famous ‘Jedermann’ play. The most significant building in the city is probably Salzburg cathedral. This impressive building dates from the early Baroque era and features a magnificent façade and striking dome. The building once also reflected the power of Salzburg’s bishops.

The magical Hellbrunn Castle is another of Salzburg’s architectural treasures with its extensive park and unique tricky fountains and is located at the edge of the city. Today it is deemed to be one of the most magnificent Renaissance buildings to the north of the Alps.
